Each Baba Mountain Knife is made with care and precision, using traditional forge techniques that have been passed down through generations. We start with damascus steel, which is forged, oil-hardened, tempered, and polished to create a blade that is strong, durable, and built to last. The handles are crafted from locally available renewable hardwoods like walnut - ensuring that each knife is not only beautiful, but also eco-friendly.

Our knives are more than just tools - they represent the hard work and dedication of the men who make them. Through their hard work, they've honed their skills and become masters of their craft. And just like these knives are designed to hold their edge for years to come, the men who create them are now able to hold their own and lead fulfilling lives.

  • Here are some tips for caring for a Damascus steel knife:

    • Sharpen the blade regularly, especially if you use it daily.
    • Avoid contact with other metal objects to prevent scratches.
    • Keep the knife dry and clean, and avoid leaving it in a humid environment.
    • Wash the knife in warm soapy water and dry it immediately.
    • Coat the blade with mineral oil before storing it.
    • When storing, keep out of the leather sheath -- it can bring too much moisture into the blade and cause rusting.

After use, wash and dry immediately:

    • Rinse clean under running water and wipe dry with a clean cloth
    • Lightly oil using mineral oil or wax
    • Store in a cool, dry place

    Things NOT to Do:

    • Leave the blade resting in standing water
    • Rest the blade on a damp tea towel, wash cloth, etc
    • Store in direct contact with leather
    • Wash in a dishwasher
